studio etiquette

At Fire Life Yoga, we are committed to fostering a respectful and welcoming environment for all. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to prepare and find your space. Remember to bring your own mat and water, and wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. We kindly ask that you silence your phones and maintain a quiet atmosphere to honor everyone’s practice. Let’s support each other on this journey and create a community where everyone feels valued and at home. Thank you for being a part of our studio!

We encourage you to connect with your teacher! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach them before or after class. If you have any pre-existing injuries or require modifications for any reason, let the teacher know beforehand so they can support your practice effectively. Your well-being is our priority!

Set Up for Class

To create an ideal environment, please leave personal belongings outside the practice room. All you need is your yoga mat, towel, water, and an open mind! Position yourself so you can see your reflection in the mirror, and stagger behind the person in front of you.

Keep the Hot Room Peaceful

As you enter the room, kindly close the door behind you to help maintain our precious heat and humidity. Set up your mat quietly and take a moment to lie down, allowing yourself to transition into the space. Please maintain silence upon entering, as other yogis are often in a state of silent meditation, preparing for class.

Expect to Sweat

Our room is heated, and sweating is a key part of the experience. The warmth helps to loosen your muscles, prevent injuries, and facilitate a deeper workout. Embrace the sweat—it’s a natural way to flush toxins from your body and enhance your practice!

Stay Hydrated

Arrive at class well-hydrated, and during Bikram Yoga sessions, please wait until the instructor indicates it’s time to drink (typically after the warm-up poses). After that, feel free to sip water as needed between postures.

Commit to Staying in the Room

We encourage you to stay for the entire class. If you start to feel overwhelmed, try lying down in Savasana on your mat for a moment. This can help you regroup and refocus before making any decisions to leave.

Embrace Your Emotions

You’ll likely face challenges during class—everyone does. Push yourself to your edge, but always listen to your body. If you need to rest, lie down on your mat. It’s normal to experience feelings of dizziness, nausea, or lightheadedness, especially when you’re starting out. These sensations are temporary, and as your body acclimates and detoxifies, you should notice improvement.

Practice Self-Love

Remember, during class, no one is focused on you or judging your practice. Everyone is engaged in their own journey. The teacher will guide you with compassion and respect, allowing you to explore your practice without fear. Embrace this opportunity for self-love and growth!

Stay for a While

We encourage you to take a few moments after class to cool down and relax. This time allows your body to transition and helps integrate the benefits of your practice.

Nourish Your Body

After a vigorous session, you’ll be sweating a lot! This purifying sweat releases toxins but also depletes your body of essential vitamins and minerals. To replenish these vital nutrients, focus on consuming nutrient-dense foods, staying hydrated, and replenishing electrolytes for at least 24 hours after your practice.

Bet on Yourself

Give yourself the gift of time! We recommend attending at least three classes before deciding if Bikram Yoga is right for you. Each class will feel different, and by your third session, you’ll have a clearer perspective on your experience. The more consistent you are, the quicker you’ll acclimate and start noticing positive changes.

Leave with an Open Mind… and Plan to Return

Each day is a new opportunity to begin again. Embrace your journey, and we can’t wait to see you back on the mat tomorrow!

New students are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early for their first class. This allows sufficient time for check-in, orientation, and getting settled on your mat. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate students who arrive less than 15 minutes prior to their first class.

General Arrival

While early arrival is mandatory for new students, we encourage all students to come early. This gives you the chance to check in, settle down, and align your mindset with the purpose of the class. While waiting, feel free to practice a pose, stretch, or take a moment to breathe and center yourself.

Bathroom Etiquette

We have two bathrooms equipped with showers. Please be considerate of others and limit your bathroom time to 10 minutes after class.

Check-In Policy

Even if you’ve signed in online, please check in at the front desk. This step is essential for your safety, as we need to account for everyone. If you reserve a spot online and do not check in before class, your spot may be released.

Class Reservations

The best way to secure your spot is to sign up online. You can reserve a spot up to 30 minutes before class starts. We also hold spots for walk-in clients, so don’t worry if a class appears full online—arrive early for a good chance to join! If you reserve a spot and don’t attend, you may incur a charge according to our No Show policy; we cannot guarantee cancellations over the phone.

No Late Arrivals

All classes start on time. Late arrivals will not be permitted entry once the door is locked. If you’re running late, we recommend taking a later class.

Required Items

Always bring a mat, towel, and water bottle to class. Rentals and purchases are available if you forget.

Footwear and Belongings

Remove your shoes and store them in the cubbies upon entering the lobby. Please disable all electronic devices—turn off cell phones, pagers, and anything that makes noise—and leave them outside the classroom.

Please arrive at the studio at least 15 minutes before class starts to allow ample time for check-in. Unfortunately, late entry is not permitted.

To ensure everyone’s safety and the security of our belongings, the front entry door will be locked promptly at the start of class.

At Fire Life Yoga, we pride ourselves on providing a boutique studio experience with limited practice space. To ensure that all students can enjoy our classes, we have a strict cancellation policy.
